Diet for patients with myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a chronic disease with transmission disorders at the neuromuscular junction, which is prone to relapse and often requires a long period of treatment. Patients are particularly concerned about daily dietary contraindications during long-term medication, especially when combining Chinese and Western medicine and taking Chinese herbal medicine. Many patients report that there are many contraindications for this disease from the Internet or hearsay, and they are at a loss. In response to this problem, the author investigated the information on the Internet and concluded that there are indeed many problems. According to the clinical observation and experience of Professor Huang Kunqiang and me over the years, we summarize the dietary contraindications for patients with myasthenia gravis. From the clinical manifestations of myasthenia gravis, in addition to the many symptoms caused by muscle weakness, patients often show easy fatigue, easy to catch a cold; gastrointestinal discomfort or diarrhea after eating a cold diet; patients taking the western drug bromipyridamole are especially prone to abdominal pain and loose stools. According to the understanding of TCM theory, these manifestations and the manifestations of myasthenia gravis reflect that the root cause of this disease lies in the weakness of spleen qi and the sinking of middle qi. Therefore, from the perspective of Chinese medicine, we believe that patients with myasthenia gravis should take care of the spleen and stomach in terms of diet and pay attention to the following points: 1, avoid cold: foods that are cold in nature, cold food as little as possible, such as crabs, food taken out directly from the refrigerator, cold drinks in the summer, etc. 2, caution spicy: too much spicy: too much cold food, cold drinks in the summer. 2, careful spicy: too spicy, spicy food to eat less. 3, take medicine taboo: like to eat mung beans or tea patients note that the time to take Chinese medicine and consume mung beans, tea time interval of more than 1 hour can be. Mung beans are cold in nature and should not be consumed for a long time or in large quantities. 4. Refer to the understanding of western medicine nutrition: pay proper attention to a diet high in protein and rich in potassium and calcium to supplement nutrition. Green fruits and vegetables are consumed in moderation according to personal preferences, and there are no special contraindications. 5, myasthenia gravis with chewing weakness or swallowing difficulties: according to the severity of the disease, choose soft food, semi-fluid, paste or fluid diet is appropriate, small mouth slowly eat, choking and coughing should be considered timely placement of nasal feeding tube fluid diet, to avoid choking and aspiration. Repeated choking and aspiration can cause aspiration pneumonia, which is very detrimental to patients with myasthenia gravis and may induce aggravation of the disease, so special attention is needed.
