Is poor vision in children necessarily myopia?

There are several possible reasons for children’s vision not reaching normal standards: (1) refractive error: myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, refractive error. Among them, preschool children are mainly farsighted, if the farsightedness is too high, not given timely correction, vision development is affected and the formation of amblyopia;? (2) amblyopia; (3) other diseases of the eye, such as congenital cataract, corneal leukoma, glaucoma, fundus disease, etc.; (4) developmental low vision: any of the above abnormalities are not found by eye examination, but the corrected visual acuity is lower than the normal visual acuity of children of the same age. Therefore, poor vision in children is not necessarily myopia. It is necessary to have a pediatric ophthalmologist examine and promptly detect and correct refractive eye diseases (high hyperopia, astigmatism, refractive aberration, etc.), strabismus and other congenital eye diseases that affect the development of vision, so as not to delay the diagnosis and treatment.
