Thyroid Stimulating Hormone 7.5 – Is it serious?

Thyrotropin 7.5µIU/mL is high and needs to be evaluated in conjunction with thyroid hormone levels. If it is subclinical hyperthyroidism with normal thyroid hormone levels, it is relatively not serious; if it is clearly hyperthyroidism with high thyroid hormone levels, it is more serious. The normal range for serum thyroid stimulating hormone is 0.35 to 5.5 µIU/mL, so 7.5 µIU/mL is high. If the serum thyroid hormone level is normal, it is considered subclinical hyperthyroidism, which usually has no obvious symptoms. If the serum thyroid hormone level is significantly elevated, combined with the clinical manifestations, it is considered to be caused by hyperthyroidism, which is more serious. Untreated hyperthyroidism may cause thyroid crisis, thyrotoxic heart disease, etc., which is harmful to the patient’s health and life. Abnormalities in thyroid stimulating hormone should be treated promptly at the endocrinology department of the hospital and consult a specialist for guidance.
