Epilepsy is a complex disease. It also needs to be reviewed regularly after surgery. The purpose of the review is to find out if the seizures are still occurring after surgery? Has the EEG improved? When can the medication be stopped? How to stop the medication and so on. The first review is usually 3 months to 6 months after surgery and includes a head MRI and EEG. The purpose is to find out whether the small amount of intracranial bleeding has been completely absorbed after surgery, whether the extent of resection has reached the preoperative expectation, and whether the EEG has improved. Subsequent review is usually sufficient to check only the EEG. If there are no seizures for 2 years after surgery and the EEG is basically normal, you can consider gradually stopping the antiepileptic drugs. Do not stop all the drugs suddenly, otherwise it will easily trigger seizures. If there are still seizures after surgery, medication adjustments should be made according to the EEG.
