Be wary of gaining weight after being cured of hyperthyroidism surgery!

Most hyperthyroidism patients gain weight once they are cured by surgery. If left uncontrolled they become too fat, leading to numerous inconveniences and even obesity complications (such as hypertension). What are the reasons? In hyperthyroidism, the basal metabolism is high and energy consumption is high. Patients have a big appetite, eat more without gaining weight, and tend to develop the habit of eating and drinking more. Surgery can quickly cure hyperthyroidism, which makes hyperthyroidism patients lose a lot of energy consumption. If the habit of eating more is not changed, the unconsumed energy will be converted into fat, causing weight gain. Therefore, it is important for hyperthyroidism patients to monitor their weight change after surgery by weighing themselves more frequently. If there is a significant increase, you need to eat less meat and staple foods (rice, pasta, etc.), eat more vegetables and exercise more.
