Why do eyes become distorted when wearing glasses?

Many people with myopia believe that the deformation of the eyes is caused by wearing glasses, but this is actually a misconception. The deformation of the eye is not caused by glasses, but by myopia itself. As myopia deepens, the shape of the eye will change and the eyeball will protrude or the posterior sclera will become swollen, which is mainly caused by the elongation of the eye axis. This is a lesion caused by myopia itself, so it is not related to wearing glasses. This condition is usually seen in high myopia, especially in those with more than 600 degrees of myopia. As the eye axis grows, fundus lesions such as retinal pigment disorder, macular hemorrhage, macular cleft or retinal fissure will appear.
