Reasons for shrugging your shoulders with a rattling sound

Rattling sound when shrugging the shoulder may belong to normal physiological rattling, or it may be caused by periarthritis or bursitis, old fracture of the shoulder, degenerative disease of the shoulder joint and other factors.
1. Physiological factors: if there is a rattling sound when shrugging the shoulder without any other uncomfortable symptoms, it is generally physiological rattling.
2. Frozen shoulder or bursitis: prolonged exposure to cold or prolonged immobilization in a certain position may cause aseptic inflammation. Inflammation of the soft tissues around the shoulder will lead to pathological changes in the shoulder joint capsule, ligaments, tendons, hyperplasia, hypertrophy, and ectopic ossification, which will result in friction rattling sound when the shoulder is moving.
3. Old shoulder fracture: the patient has had a shoulder fracture, and there may be bone fragments in the shoulder, which may cause a popping sound during activities.
4. Degenerative disease of the shoulder joint: common in older patients, due to the wear and tear or loss of articular cartilage, the friction between the joints will increase, resulting in a rattling sound during activities.
If the symptoms persist or are accompanied by pain and other symptoms, you should go to the hospital in time and standardize the treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
