Many of my patients ask me why the lumbar discs are herniated. So I will now talk about the causative factors that cause this type of disease. I hope it can be of some help to you. With the development of society, lumbar spondylosis is no longer the “patent” of middle-aged and elderly friends, with the popularity of computers and the neglect of small details in daily life, more and more young people are now stepping into the ranks of lumbar spondylosis. There are reports that half of the white-collar work is lumbar spondylosis patients. So what are the causes of lumbar spondylosis? Most people experience lumbar pain. There are many kinds of diseases that cause lumbar pain, such as acute lumbar sprain, chronic lumbar strain and lumbar disc herniation, but the symptoms of lumbar pain caused by different etiologies are also different. The specific causes of lumbar spondylosis are as follows. Cause 1: degenerative lesions The root cause of lumbar spondylosis is degenerative lesions of the spine. The so-called degenerative lesions simply means aging. Degeneration of the spine includes degeneration of the spine and degeneration of the intervertebral disc. Degeneration of the spine is characterized by the formation of bone spurs, hypertrophy of the articular processes, thickening of the vertebral plates, and eventual narrowing of the spinal canal due to hypertrophy of the ligamentum flavum. Degeneration of the intervertebral discs includes: degeneration of the annulus fibrosus, which is manifested by thinning and rupture. Degeneration of the nucleus pulposus, which is characterized by loss of water, elasticity and mobility. This eventually leads to bulging, herniation and prolapse of the disc. Cause 2: Aseptic inflammation Bone spurs and herniated discs compress the nerve roots, blood vessels, and spinal cord around them, causing edema, exudation, small bleeding foci, and adhesions in the compressed tissues, which are medically called aseptic inflammation, and it is an important cause of clinical symptoms. Cause 3: Sacrospinal muscle spasm Bone spurs, protruding discs compressing the posterior branches of the nerves can lead to spasm of the sacrospinal muscle, which will cause severe pain and aggravate the bulging and protruding discs. We must pay attention to physical exercise in our daily lives and work to effectively and consciously prevent the disease of herniated discs. A healthy body is the basic of a good life.
