Cisplatin in combination with chemotherapy for malignant germ cell tumors of the ovary

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the therapeutic efficacy of ovarian malignant germ cell tumors and second-line treatment in patients with recurrence. METHODS: The results of 154 ovarian malignant germ cell tumors treated with cisplatin regimen chemotherapy among 312 cases of ovarian malignant tumors from November 1958 to February 1998 were analyzed. Results: The overall survival rate of 154 cases of ovarian malignant germ cell tumors was 74.7%, and the 5-year survival rate was 92.2% in 92 patients with primary treatment (stage I-III), of which 66 cases (71.7%) had preserved their reproductive function and 19 cases had had 20 normal births. The 5-year survival rate was 51.1% in 62 cases of recurrent metastasis, and 8 cases had preserved their reproductive function. Conclusion: In order to improve the survival rate of ovarian malignant germ cell tumors, the first surgery should be staged correctly, and the current standard BEP regimen should be used as the first-line chemotherapy for 3-6 consecutive courses in a timely manner after surgery. For patients with recurrent disease, an effective second-line chemotherapy regimen should be used as early as possible according to the previous treatment to improve survival.
