Dietary principles for patients with liver cirrhosis

  Patients with cirrhosis should have a high-calorie, high-protein, high-vitamin, easy-to-digest diet with appropriate fat intake, and animal fat should not be consumed excessively and adjusted in a timely manner according to changes in the condition. Patients are advised to eat more fruits, fresh vegetables and foods containing more vitamin A and vitamin D, such as eggs and milk. Quit smoking and avoid alcohol, and avoid eating stimulating, coarse fiber and harder food.  1.Protein is the important material basis for liver cell repair and maintenance of the normal level of plasma serum protein, should ensure its intake. Protein sources are mainly soy products, eggs, milk, fish, chicken and lean pork. When the blood ammonia is elevated, protein should be restricted or forbidden, and then gradually increase the intake after the condition improves, and plant protein should be chosen, such as soybean products, because they contain less methionine, aromatic amino acids and ammonia-producing amino acids.  2.Vitamins Fresh vegetables and fruits are rich in vitamins, for example, tomatoes and citrus are rich in vitamin C. Eat them daily to ensure vitamin intake.  3.Limit sodium and water intake Those with ascites should limit sodium intake to 500-800mg/d; water intake within 1000ml/d, if hyponatremia is present, it should be limited to about 500ml/d. Patients should be introduced to the composition of various foods, such as: high-sodium foods such as salted meat, pickles, soy sauce, canned foods, sodium-containing MSG, etc., which should be consumed sparingly; foods containing less sodium include cereals, melons and eggplants, fruits, etc. Sodium-limited diet often makes patients feel that food is light and tasteless, so lemon juice, vinegar, etc. can be added in appropriate amount to improve the seasoning of food to increase appetite.  4, avoid damage to varicose veins esophagogastric fundus varicose vein wall weakness, lack of elasticity contraction, once the injury is difficult to stop bleeding, high mortality. People with varicose veins should eat pureed vegetables, minced meat, soft food, chew slowly when eating, swallow the food mass should be small and smooth in appearance, do not mix with bran, crumbs, fish spines, shells and other hard, rough food to prevent damage to the varicose veins leading to bleeding.
