Urethral tumor is a rare tumor, and there are three main treatments for urethral tumor: surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The choice of treatment method depends on the location of urethral cancer and whether it is early or late, as well as whether there are surrounding metastases. For distal urothelial cancer, if it is in early stage, it can be widely resected locally. For young patients, about 2/3 of the urethra can be removed without causing incontinence. However, if the tumor extensively involves the whole urethra, total urethra or even total bladder must be resected and then urinary flow can be rerouted. For smaller tumors that are confined to the mucosal and submucosal layers, local surgical treatment and radiation therapy can be chosen. For the aspect of chemotherapy the efficacy is not very certain at the moment and can only be an option for people who are palliative and lost to surgery and radiotherapy.
