There is no such thing as the best treatment for gout. Generally speaking, the treatment of gout is divided into general treatment, medication and surgery. 1. General treatment of gout includes limiting alcohol consumption, eating less animal offal, seafood, mushrooms and other high-purine foods, drinking more water every day to increase uric acid excretion, eating more fresh vegetables and fruits, and increasing the amount of exercise. 2. Drug treatment for gout: (1) In the acute arthritis period, small doses of colchicine, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as indomethacin, diclofenac, celecoxib, etc. can be used to alleviate the symptoms, and glucocorticosteroids, such as prednisone, methylprednisolone, can be taken orally or injected into the joint cavities when necessary; (2) In the intermittent period, drugs such as allopurinol, febuxostat and benzbromarone can be used to reduce the blood uric acid level. 3. Surgery: If necessary, surgery can be performed to remove gout stones or orthopedic surgery can be performed on damaged joints. Gout patients are advised to go to the rheumatology and immunology departments of regular hospitals for detailed consultation, follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment, and do not self-medication.
