Dizziness during menopause?

Dizziness can occur during menopause. Menopause generally occurs between the ages of 45-55 and patients can develop menopausal anxiety and menopausal depression. Patients with menopausal anxiety generally present with difficulty sleeping, distraction and restlessness, and patients may have dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and in some cases, palpitations, chest tightness, and sweating, usually in paroxysms. Alternatively, patients may also present with menopausal depression, which is characterized by early awakening from sleep, depressed mood, disinterest in anything, etc. Patients may also experience dizziness. If menopausal anxiety is considered, anti-anxiety medications can usually be given, commonly used are buspirone and tandospirone. If depression is considered, oral citalopram may also be administered for treatment.
