Tarsal Yang point, an acupoint above the foot solar bladder meridian, is used for treating pain in the lower limbs, lumbosacral pain, and headaches. Tarsal Yang point is a Qie point of the Yang Stilt Vein, located at the back of the lower leg, behind the outer ankle, 3 inches straight up from the Kunlun point. The point is usually taken in the prone or sitting position, with the back of the foot behind the outer ankle, measuring 4 transverse fingers upward, and pressing on the place where there is a sensation of soreness and swelling. The tarsal point can treat disorders of the lower limbs, such as atrophy and weakness of the lower limbs, lumbosacral pain, swelling and pain of the outer ankle, as well as headaches. Tarsal points can be used for both acupuncture, moxibustion and massage. Acupuncture needs to be operated by a professional doctor, and moxibustion and massage need to be guided by a professional doctor to avoid risks.
