Who is a good candidate for chin augmentation?

Chin augmentation is suitable for all kinds of simple chin retraction, low-flat deformity, chin and neck angle is not obvious, and the occlusal relationship between the upper and lower jaws is basically coordinated patients, especially suitable for mild, moderate shortening of the chin deformity. Currently, artificial prosthesis is mostly used, and the materials of prosthesis are bentonite, silicone, own cartilage and bone powder. Patients should choose the appropriate prosthesis according to their own chin shape and requirements under the guidance of the doctor. Oral hygiene and health should be checked at the same time. Surgical method: A very hidden intraoral incision is used. The sterilized prosthesis is first sculpted according to the shape of the patient’s chin. After disinfection and anesthesia, an incision is made in the gingival sulcus, and the periosteum is separated downward to form a cavity suitable for the prosthesis. After stopping the bleeding, the prosthesis is inserted, and the position and shape of the prosthesis are adjusted to the patient’s satisfaction, then the prosthesis is fixed and stitched in layers. Postoperative precautions: Minimize activities after surgery to prevent the position of the prosthesis from moving. Apply mouthwash to maintain oral hygiene. Apply antibiotics for 3-5 days to prevent infection. Intraoral sutures should be removed in 7-10 days. Localized swelling will occur after surgery, which will gradually subside after four days. Avoid sun exposure and violent impact for two months after surgery. Very few patients will have prosthesis rejection phenomenon (swelling does not subside in three weeks, yellow liquid coming out of the incision), should go to the hospital immediately to remove the prosthesis.
