Does montelukast cure asthma in three months?



Montelukast Sodium taken for three months does not cure asthma, there is no adequate scientific research to confirm that asthma can be cured, Montelukast Sodium is indicated for the prevention and long-term treatment of asthma in adults and children.

As a general rule, adults aged 15 years and older: take one tablet (10 mg) daily at bedtime; pediatric patients aged 6-14 years: take one chewable tablet (5 mg) daily at bedtime, without adjusting the dose for age. The drug may be taken with other foods or alone. Patients should adhere to the use of montelukast sodium, which is required not only in the worsening phase of asthma, but also in the control phase to avoid discontinuing the drug at will.

Montelukast Sodium carries a potential risk of severe psychiatric symptoms and behavioral changes. Patients taking Montelukast Sodium should follow their doctor’s instructions and should not blindly, self-administer or discontinue the drug. The drug should not be used alone for acute attacks of asthma or with aspirin.
