What will be the outcome of artificial hip replacement surgery?

One of the most important factors in deciding whether or not to have an artificial joint replacement is to know what you will get out of the surgery! What you won’t get! The vast majority of patients who undergo artificial joint replacement surgery will have a pain-free hip and will be able to significantly improve their joint function and quality of life. However, the surgery will never enable you to do anything that you would not have been able to do if the hip had not developed. After surgery, you will be instructed to avoid certain movements, such as jogging and strenuous exercise. Even with normal use and activity, the prosthesis will eventually wear out. If you engage in strenuous exercise or are overweight, this will accelerate the wear and cause the prosthesis to loosen and you will be in pain again.
