Can low progesterone cause miscarriage?

Progesterone, a natural progesterone secreted by the corpus luteum of the ovary. It has a significant morphological effect in the body on the endometrium that has been stimulated by estrogen, so having low progesterone in the early stages of pregnancy can cause a miscarriage if a fertilized egg is unable to settle on top of the endometrium, or if it does not have enough nutrients to supply after it settles. Therefore, if the progesterone is too low, it may cause miscarriage, but not as long as the progesterone is low will 100% miscarriage, after the discovery of low progesterone can be monitored, if there is a downward trend, or signs of miscarriage should be timely medication, some patients will still be successful in preserving the pregnancy. The cause of low progesterone in women may be due to luteinizing insufficiency or insufficient luteal secretion caused by disease. Progesterone is a hormone that supports the early growth and development of the fetus during pregnancy, and it is produced and secreted by the corpus luteum of the ovaries, when progesterone is significantly higher than during non-pregnancy, and the progesterone level in the blood will become higher and higher as pregnancy continues. However, if the progesterone level is too low in the early stages of pregnancy for various reasons, it will cause the gestational sac to be deprived of sufficient nutrients, which may lead to pre-eclampsia or even inevitable miscarriage. Of course, there are many other reasons for miscarriage. Therefore, it is essential for women with habitual miscarriage to have a blood progesterone test in the early stages of pregnancy. If low progesterone is found in the early stages of pregnancy, progesterone can be administered or injected intramuscularly under the guidance of a clinician, and oral dydrogesterone tablets can be taken to preserve the pregnancy.
