Pregnancy can have an effect on fibroids afterwards. The occurrence of fibroids is mainly related to hormone levels, especially estrogen. After pregnancy, the estrogen level in the body is higher, so some patients with fibroids will have significantly larger fibroids during pregnancy. In some cases, the enlargement of the uterus after pregnancy may cause the fibroids to degenerate due to the pressure on the fibroids and the ischemia of the fibroids. If the fibroids degenerate and become infected, this can lead to more pronounced abdominal pain. This condition in turn may induce a miscarriage, so it must be treated aggressively. Most patients with leiomyosarcoma have no obvious symptoms during pregnancy, and pregnant women should not be overly concerned because of the presence of leiomyosarcoma, and regular review is usually recommended. If a cesarean delivery is performed, myoma removal can be done in the middle of the procedure if the condition requires it. However, if there is no indication, it can be left untreated and regular post-operative follow-up can be done.
