What are the chemotherapy drugs for gastric cancer?

Chemotherapeutic agents used for gastric cancer usually include cisplatin, epirubicin, and fluorouracil (5-FU), and the combination of these agents together is called an ECF regimen. Because 5-FU has an unstable absorption rate when taken orally, it can only be used for intravenous infusion, whereas tegeo and capecitabine are both 5-FU derivatives that can be taken orally and can be used to replace 5-FU intravenously. If capecitabine is used in place of 5-FU in an ECF regimen, an ECX regimen is formed. Another combination regimen is known as the EOX regimen, which is composed of three drugs: epirubicin, oxaliplatin and capecitabine. DC(O)F is also a commonly used combination regimen that is composed of docetaxel, cisplatin (oxaliplatin) and 5-FU. Tegeo can be given orally as a single agent or in combination with other drugs such as cisplatin or oxaliplatin. Tegeo is currently considered to be the most effective single agent for the treatment of gastric cancer.
