Xiao Jianzhong Tang can be used to treat constipation caused by deficiency and coldness in the middle jiao and disharmony between the liver and spleen.
Xiao Jian Zhong Tang is used to treat deficiency and cold in the middle Jiao, and disharmony between the liver and spleen. Symptoms include constrictive (spasmodic, convulsive) pain in the abdomen, warmth and pressure, fatigue (mental exhaustion, physical weakness), weakness and timidity; or palpitations in the heart, restlessness (caused by deficiency heat in the body), and lack of splendor; or accompanied by soreness of the limbs, vexation and heat in the hands and feet (irritability and sultriness), and dryness of the pharynx and the mouth.
Xiao Jian Zhong Tang should not be used for those with vomiting or middle fullness; it is contraindicated for those with gastric pain due to Yin deficiency and fire exuberance.
