What does advanced glaucoma mean?

Advanced glaucoma mostly refers to the absolute stage of glaucoma, when the patient’s vision has been more seriously damaged.
Late glaucoma is mostly due to the patient’s intraocular pressure is not well controlled, resulting in serious visual function damage, the patient may manifest visual acuity decline, visual field defects, optic nerve atrophy and so on. In patients with severe disease, even blindness can occur, and the visual field can be tubular or almost close to complete loss of visual field. On fundus examination, the patient’s optic nerve is pale and optic nerve atrophy is present.
Glaucoma is a very dangerous eye disease, and elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) is the main risk factor. Elevated IOP can cause irreversible damage to all tissues of the eye and vision. If not treated in time, patients are at risk of blindness.
It is recommended that glaucoma patients seek prompt medical attention to assess their condition and follow medical advice.
