What are the effects of sleep on height

Investigation shows that pay attention to health, develop good living habits; arrange a rational life system with rules and rhythms, can ensure that the activities and rest of the various parts of the body of young children can be suitable for alternation. The growth of height depends on the continuous growth of epiphysis, which is controlled by endocrine glands; the main endocrine hormone controlling the height of young children is growth hormone secreted by the pituitary gland. The secretion of growth hormone has obvious regularity, 70%-80% of growth hormone is secreted during sleep; the secretion of growth hormone exceeds 5-7 times during the day after young children sleep deeply for one hour. Therefore, adolescents should ensure sufficient sleep, at least 9-10 hours per night. Acute and chronic diseases can also affect the absorption of nutrients, which in turn affects the height development of young children. Long-term diseases such as recurrent respiratory infections, gastrointestinal diseases, chronic hepatitis, asthma, heart disease, anemia, etc. can affect growth and development; hereditary diseases of the skeleton, such as chondrodysplasia, osteogenesis imperfecta, etc., can also limit bone growth; pediatric endocrine diseases, such as growth hormone deficiency, thyroid hormone deficiency, etc., can seriously affect the growth and development of young children. Generally speaking, children can increase 4-7cm per year after the age of 3 to the pre-puberty period. If the child’s annual height increase is <4cm, we should consider that the child may suffer from dwarfism and should be treated early and actively in order to effectively improve the height.
