Mastectomy generally has little effect on the human body, but it mainly affects aesthetics, which can have a psychological impact on the patient. It is mainly because the breast is located on the surface of the human body, and the resection will not damage the local nerves and blood vessels, and so on, so it does not have much impact on the human body. At present, most of the mastectomy surgery methods are to retain the pectoralis major and pectoralis minor muscles, so that the development of chest muscle tissue strength will not be affected by too much, which will make the incision at the more obvious wounds. Postoperative scarring of the patient’s chest wall may occur, and if scar contracture occurs, it may lead to discomfort on the affected side of the chest wall. If lymphedema occurs, it may lead to swelling, which may cause greater physical and psychological stress and cause the patient to lose much of his or her self-confidence in life. It is recommended that the patient may consider breast reconstruction with autologous or prosthetic reconstruction surgery, or if not, wear a breast prosthesis, which can provide an additional layer of protection for the breasts and can give the patient some added self-confidence in all aspects of life.
