Patients with rhinitis should pay attention to their daily diet. For acute rhinitis, i.e. common cold, patients should avoid spicy and stimulating foods as well as foods that tend to cause capillary dilation, such as chili, wine, pickled and marinated foods, beef and mutton, shrimp and crab. Patients with allergic rhinitis should avoid foods that can easily lead to allergies; patients with chronic rhinitis and hypertrophic rhinitis do not have too many food contraindications, but it is recommended to avoid eating pickled, brined, spicy and stimulating foods during episodes, as such foods can cause capillary dilation and lead to skin eruptions and itching.
