There are differences between Fubiao and Sanyinjiao points in terms of meridian attribution, location, and main treatment of diseases.
1. Meridian attribution: Fuxiao point belongs to the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, and Sanyinjiao point belongs to the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian.
2. Location: Fuxiao is located on the inner side of the calf, 2 inches above the tip of the inner ankle, at the anterior edge of the Achilles tendon. Sanyinjiao point is located on the inner side of the calf, 3 inches above the tip of the inner ankle, at the posterior margin of the medial border of the tibia.
3. Indications: Fuxiao acupoint is used for treating edema, sweating (no sweating or excessive sweating), abdominal distension, diarrhea, lumbar and spinal stiffness, lower limb pain or impotence and weakness. Sanyinjiao point treats abdominal distention, diarrhea, spermatorrhea, impotence, enuresis, irregular menstruation, metrorrhagia (excessive menstrual flow or dribbling), leucorrhoea, infertility, lower limb pain or weakness.
If there is a need for acupuncture or moxibustion on the Fuyao or Sanyinjiao points, the operation should be carried out by a professional doctor, and should not be operated blindly by oneself to avoid adverse consequences.
