The worst manifestations of alcoholic cirrhosis

Alcoholic cirrhosis is a liver disease caused by heavy alcohol consumption, which continues to progress causing structural damage to the hepatic lobules, resulting in the formation of structural fibrosis and pseudofollicles in the form of nodular cirrhosis. It can be divided into two periods, as compensated and decompensated. The symptoms are also different, including loss of appetite, vomiting blood, black stools, etc. 1. Compensatory period: After the body’s regulation, the patient’s liver function can be maintained at a relatively normal level. At this time, the patient may have no symptoms, or atypical symptoms such as fatigue, loss of appetite, indigestion and diarrhea. Usually, they can be relieved after resting or taking medication. 2. Loss of compensation stage: In this stage, even after regulation by the body, it is difficult for the patient’s liver function to be maintained at a relatively normal level. In addition to the symptoms that may appear in the compensated stage, patients may also have nausea, itching, abdominal pain, jaundice, vomiting blood, black stools, blood in the stools, bleeding from mucous membranes, gynecomastia, amenorrhea in females, and altered mental status caused by hepatic encephalopathy. On the skin, patients can see red vascular nevus and reddened size of ichthyosis, and the color fades when pressed, which are called spider nevus and liver palm respectively. In addition, it is recommended that patients with alcoholic cirrhosis go to the hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment to avoid delays.
