How long does it take for a child with major depression to get better

How long it takes to heal a child with major depression varies from person to person, and in the vast majority of cases, treatment may take six months to a year. The symptoms of major depression are more severe, last longer, can affect brain function, and usually do not heal on their own. However, most children with major depression can achieve complete remission with regular treatment. The main clinical treatment is antidepressant medication, divided into the acute treatment period, consolidation period and recovery period. The acute phase of treatment takes 2-3 months, and the consolidation phase lasts about half a year. In addition, for patients with more than 3 episodes, the consolidation phase treatment takes 3-5 years. The recovery period is mainly treated for 6-8 months or even more than 1 year, with a gradual process of medication reduction and discontinuation at a later stage. In patients with refractory or recurrent depression, treatment may take longer. Depression treatment is complex, but there are more treatment methods, such as psychotherapy, sleep deprivation therapy, phototherapy and electroconvulsive therapy, and better results can often be achieved with comprehensive treatment.
