The time from intestinal polyp to the development of intestinal cancer is usually relatively long, usually around 10 years, but of course there are patients who may have longer time. If there is a small amount of bleeding on the surface of polyps, many patients may have positive occult blood test, and if the amount of bleeding is high, patients may have black stool. So when there is a polyp in the intestine, a colonoscopy is usually able to detect it. It is recommended to do colonoscopy to remove the polyps. If the polyps are not removed for a long time, some of them may progress to colorectal cancer, especially if the polyps are large in size, have a wide base or have villi on the surface of the polyps, the possibility of progressing to colorectal cancer is significantly increased.
