What to do if a thyroid nodule doesn’t go away after ablation surgery

Thyroid nodules that do not go away after radiofrequency ablation can be further treated with surgical removal. Radiofrequency ablation of thyroid nodules generally uses radiofrequency or microwave to ablate the nodules. This kind of surgery is less traumatic, less likely to damage local blood vessels, less bleeding, avoiding damage to the recurrent laryngeal nerve, and faster recovery after surgery, which are all its advantages. However, its disadvantages are that the nodule may not disappear completely after the operation and the pathology cannot be taken to clarify the nature of the nodule. For malignant nodules or suspected malignant nodules, surgical excision treatment should be performed aggressively. Patients whose thyroid nodules do not disappear after radiofrequency ablation are advised to seek prompt medical attention.
