In clinical work, we have encountered many patients who are highly nervous when they come to the clinic and suspect they have “stomach cancer” because they feel the following discomforts: bloating, abdominal pain, belching, acid reflux, heartburn, etc. Some patients do not have any discomfort and suspect they have stomach cancer just because their neighbors, friends or family members have stomach cancer. How to detect stomach cancer at an early stage? 1.First of all, what is early gastric cancer? There are four layers in the normal stomach wall, from inside to outside: mucosal layer, submucosal layer, muscular layer and plasma layer. Simply speaking, if the cancerous tissues have invaded the submucosa layer but not exceeded the submucosa layer, such gastric cancer is early cancer. 2.What are the special symptoms of early gastric cancer? To be honest, there are no special symptoms for early gastric cancer. Because the lesion is very early, there are no corresponding symptoms yet. Most of the early cancers found clinically are found by gastroscopy because of common abdominal discomfort; some are found during physical examination; some are found by gastroscopy because of symptoms of functional gastrointestinal lesions due to anger, so some people think they got cancer from anger, but in fact, it is not. 3.How to detect early gastric cancer? Stomach cancer is related to heredity, diet and environment. Therefore, people with family history of gastric cancer should preferably have medical checkups around 45 years old or 5 years before the age of the earliest cancer detected in the family, and must have gastroscopy. People who like to eat high salt, fried food, kimchi, etc. should also pay high attention to the condition of their stomach. Those who are in areas with high incidence of stomach cancer are advised to review gastroscopy regularly.
