What causes double eyelid asymmetry

Double eyelid asymmetry may be caused by heredity, eye trauma, intraocular inflammation and other reasons.
1. Heredity: a few people will have double eyelids in one eye and single eyelids in the other when they are born, this is due to hereditary factors, and generally does not cause discomfort to the patient, so there is no need to carry out special treatment.
2. Eye trauma: If the patient’s eye suffers from trauma, it may cause one side of the eye to be swollen and congested, which will lead to asymmetry of the double eyelids in the patient’s eyes.
3. Inflammation in the eye: If the patient has inflammation in one side of the eye, such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis, etc., it can also cause abnormal redness and swelling in one side of the eye, and the patient can thus show asymmetry in both eyes.
It is recommended that patients with asymmetrical eyelids and other discomforts consult a doctor to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
