Many people have the perception that diabetes is a stage health problem that will get progressively worse over time, and that a variety of complications will arise. For example, in our hospital, we have a first-time diabetic patient who already has pain in his lower limbs, and we reminded him to prevent diabetic foot, but he didn’t think so, thinking that he just got diabetes and his foot would not rot. Here I will mainly talk about a few misconceptions about diabetes and diabetic foot: First, only when there are “three more and one less” will there be diabetes. Diabetes has the typical “three more and one less” characteristics, but not everyone is more obvious, which leads to many patients usually have no symptoms, but by chance found high blood sugar, diabetes history is actually not constantly. Second, diabetes is also controllable. People think that diabetes also has a middle and late stage, which is not exactly right. Like I have a patient, blood sugar control is good, often come to check the physical examination, more than 20 years have no major problems. Therefore, diabetic patients do not get more serious with the prolongation of the disease, that is, not will appear diabetic foot. Third, the cause of the occurrence of diabetic foot. Let’s start with the first one, high blood sugar. High blood sugar is indeed one of the causes of the disease, but not that high blood sugar will rotten feet. Then, rotten feet is a long-term effect, such as long-term poor control of blood sugar, patients appear vascular and neuropathy of the lower limbs, the sensitivity of the legs and feet decreased, resistance is weakened, the wound does not heal for a long time will develop into a diabetic foot. In other words, although the patient is young and has been diagnosed for a short period of time, nerve and vascular complications have already appeared in the lower extremities, and such patients can also develop diabetic foot. Of course, most of the patients hospitalized in our hospital are mainly elderly people, and each person’s situation is different, but age is definitely a reason, after all, all the body functions are declining, metabolism is weakening, poor care, untimely medical consultation, etc. Therefore, I suggest that as soon as diabetes is diagnosed, we should do our best to prevent it and not take it for granted to avoid serious complications.
