What to do if your nose is always stuffy from rhinitis

Constant nasal congestion is caused by different types of rhinitis, such as simple rhinitis, hypertrophic rhinitis, and allergic rhinitis. Rhinitis can be treated by decongestants, antihistamines, glucocorticoids, surgery, etc., and should be combined with the cause of the disease for comprehensive treatment. 1. Decongestant drugs: nasal mucosal congestion and edema in rhinitis, local use of decongestant drugs such as 0.5% ephedrine nasal drops can promote the drainage of secretions and improve the symptoms of nasal congestion, commonly used in simple rhinitis, hypertrophic rhinitis caused by nasal congestion. However, it should be noted that decongestants can not be used continuously for more than 7 days, and long-term use may produce dependence. 2. Antihistamines: Antihistamines, such as loratadine, are commonly used in allergic rhinitis and can alleviate the allergic reaction of the nasal mucosa, thus relieving the symptoms of nasal congestion. 3. Glucocorticoids: common glucocorticoid sprays, such as budesonide nasal spray, can be used for some rhinitis caused by nasal congestion. Glucocorticosteroids can reduce the inflammatory response and decrease the secretion of mucus, thus relieving nasal congestion. 4. Surgery: Hypertrophic rhinitis usually requires surgical treatment to remove part of the inferior turbinate tissue to relieve obstruction and improve ventilation. When rhinitis has been experiencing symptoms of nasal congestion, further detailed examination of the nasal cavity is needed. Nasal endoscopy can determine the inflammation of the nasal mucosa, the presence of nasal polyps and so on. After clear diagnosis, timely treatment is carried out.
