How to treat dry eyes

Dry eye is a group of disorders caused by a variety of factors that result in insufficient tear production, excessive evaporation, or abnormal tear dynamics on the ocular surface, resulting in tear film instability or other damage to the ocular surface, and consequent discomfort such as dry eyes and foreign body sensation. The disease can be controlled by physical therapy, medication as prescribed by the doctor, and surgery.
1. Physical therapy: For patients with dry eyes induced by overuse of eyes, attention should be paid to correcting bad eye habits; if combined with blepharosphenoid gland dysfunction, the lid margins should be cleaned, and the doctor’s prescription should be carried out for blepharosphenoid gland massage and local hot compresses; if the environment of the eyes is too dry, humidifiers and other tools can be used when necessary.
2. Medication: Generally, you can follow the doctor’s instructions to apply sodium vitrate drops and other artificial tears to relieve the dryness of the eyes, if there is a more serious inflammation, you can also follow the doctor’s instructions to apply anti-inflammatory drugs such as Pralofen eye drops to reduce inflammation.
3. Surgery: If the effect of conservative treatment is not good, surgical treatment can be considered, such as permanent lacrimal punctum closure surgery, submandibular gland transplantation.
It is recommended that dry eye patients seek medical attention in a timely manner and take medication as prescribed by the doctor, do not take medication without authorization to avoid aggravation of the condition.
