Patients can determine whether they have strabismus by using alternating eye coverings or monocular coverings.
1. Alternate masking of both eyes: The patient’s eyes are covered alternately by using a masking plate, and the movement of the eyeballs is observed after the plate is removed. If the eyeballs do not rotate, then there is no strabismus; if the eyeballs do rotate, then the patient has strabismus.
2. Monocular masking method: cover one eye of the examinee and observe whether the other eye moves at the moment of masking, if it does, it indicates that the examinee has strabismus.
Patients with strabismus are advised to seek prompt medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
