Do uterine fibroids require surgery?

  Do all fibroids require surgery? What are the general surgery criteria?  The incidence of fibroids is very high, but only a small percentage of them need surgery, for example: 1. excessive menstruation: when fibroids cause excessive menstruation, including long-term excessive menstruation and prolonged periods, resulting in anemia, surgery is recommended; 2. fibroids make the uterus significantly larger, surgery is recommended; 3. single fibroids larger than 5 cm, or fibroids larger than 4 cm in diameter found in preparation for pregnancy, surgery is recommended; 4.  4.Surgery is recommended when fibroids grow to compress other pelvic organs, such as bladder, rectum or ureter; 5.Suspected malignancy: surgery is recommended when fibroids grow too fast, when fibroids continue to increase after menopause, when ultrasound finds abnormally rich blood flow in fibroids, etc.; 6.Surgery is recommended for infertile women, when all other tests are normal, when the cause of infertility is considered to be probably caused by fibroids; 7. Surgery is recommended for fibroids in special areas, for example, surgery is recommended for submucosal fibroids 2-3cm.
