Is psoriasis hereditary?

Psoriasis has some genetic correlation, but it is not true that if a father or immediate family member has psoriasis, it will necessarily be passed on to the next generation, nor is it true that if an elder such as a parent does not have psoriasis, the offspring will not get it. The epidemiology of psoriasis big data, genome related studies, HLA analysis, etc. show that psoriasis has a certain genetic tendency. 30% of patients have a family history. If one parent has psoriasis, the probability of the offspring having psoriasis is about 16%. If both parents have psoriasis, there is more than a 50% probability that the offspring will have psoriasis. To date primarily, over 80 genes associated with psoriasis have been identified worldwide. In addition to genes (genetic factors), environmental factors, such as infections (most commonly upper respiratory infections, i.e. colds), mental factors, stressful events (e.g. car accidents, accidents, etc.), pregnancy, alcohol abuse, smoking, etc., are also closely related to the development of psoriasis. You should take the disease seriously and develop good habits, such as not smoking and drinking alcohol, going to bed early and waking up early, maintaining good body immunity, catching fewer colds, and keeping your emotions comfortable and stable. To sum up, psoriasis is a disease caused by multiple genes and factors, and it is not possible to judge or rule out the possibility of having psoriasis simply by having a family history.
