Patients with myocardial ischemia can take febuxostat to lower uric acid under doctor’s supervision, but it should be used with caution. If patients develop symptoms such as palpitations, chest tightness and chest pain during the application of febuxostat, they should consult a doctor promptly to avoid delays. Febuxostat is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor, which can make uric acid synthesis decrease, mainly used for the treatment of gout. Compared with the use of allopurinol and other uric acid-lowering drugs, the probability of cardiovascular events such as angina pectoris and cardiac infarction is higher in patients using febuxostat, but the causal relationship between the two is not known, so patients with myocardial ischemia can apply febuxostat to reduce uric acid as prescribed by the doctor. Adverse effects of febuxostat include abnormal liver function, nausea, arthralgia, rash, anemia, angina, bloating, abdominal pain, constipation, dry mouth, dyspepsia, edema, and fatigue. This product is contraindicated in patients taking azathioprine, mercaptopurine or aminophylline. Febuxostat need to follow the doctor’s instructions to standardize the use, not blindly self-use, in order to avoid adverse effects.
