Do all breast cancers require chemotherapy?

Whether a breast cancer patient should undergo chemotherapy after surgery needs to be judged according to the patient’s pathological type. Generally speaking, in situ cancers without metastasis do not require chemotherapy, while most invasive cancers require chemotherapy. In in situ cancer, the cancer cells are confined to the ducts of the breast and have not spread to the periphery, nor have they metastasized to the axillary lymph nodes. Only a small percentage of invasive carcinoma can be treated without chemotherapy, which requires the following conditions: 1) Luminal A breast cancer: ki-67 less than 15%, tumor less than 2 cm, histological grading of grade I or II, no metastasis in axillary lymph nodes, age more than 35 years; 2) other types of breast cancer: no metastasis in axillary lymph nodes, tumor less than 0.5 cm. Therefore, whether to carry out chemotherapy needs to be judged according to the patient’s specific situation. No matter what kind of cancer is involved, patients should maintain a good attitude and build up confidence to overcome the disease.
