A 2014 US survey study showed that most men attribute rapid ejaculation to ejaculatory control and too rapid sexual arousal. A 2014 U.S. survey on the causes of premature ejaculation was conducted on the Internet among 1,249 participants (including 376 with premature ejaculation). The survey consisted of selecting the main factors that respondents believed could lead to premature ejaculation from a total of 10 factors: pre-arousal causes, self-control, too rapid sexual arousal, penile sensitivity, erectile dysfunction, decreased libido, lack of sexual interest in the partner, medical or pharmacological causes, stress, and anxiety. Among the multiple choices, more than 80% of the respondents who were “likely to ejaculate prematurely” and/or “unsatisfactory ejaculation time” believed that the main causes of premature ejaculation were “self-control” and “Nearly 30% of the respondents thought it was related to “penile sensitivity”. In the single choice, more than 80% of the respondents attributed the causes of premature ejaculation to “self-control” and “rapid sexual arousal”.
