What is the difference between the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness and psychological disorders?

Psychiatrists think differently about consultation and treatment than psychologists. 1. Some psychiatrists, in their treatment, do not specifically analyze the three etiological factors. They attribute both mental disorders and psychological disorders to lesions of brain cells. The idea of diagnosing and treating the disease is to understand the patient’s symptoms and to make diagnosis and medication. The follow-up is also to see if the symptoms have remitted and disappeared. Once the symptoms are not relieved, we constantly consider increasing the medication or switching to other medications to continue treatment. 2. Some psychiatrists, in their treatment, also take into account the pathogenic role of social and psychological factors and make an etiological distinction between mental disorders and psychological disorders. Because psychiatrists face patients with social and psychological factors, they do not have enough experience in psychotherapy. Or they do not have time to treat patients and are unable to help them with psychological treatment of their illness. Therefore, in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease, only the patient’s symptoms are taken into account. The follow-up is also to see if the symptoms have remitted or disappeared, once the symptoms are not relieved to constantly consider increasing drugs, or change to other drugs to continue treatment. 3, a part of psychiatrists, also like to use drugs surrounded by treatment, the antipsychotic drugs, antidepressants, antimanic drugs, anti-anxiety drugs and Chinese medicine together on. By occupying all the neural receptors inside the brain with different drugs, it is hoped to increase the efficacy. With this type of treatment, the side effects of psychotropic drugs can cause some damage to the brain. It is the fact that some of the nerve centers that should not be treated are also affected by the psychotropic drugs, causing many side effects. Some patients are unable to tolerate the side effects of this treatment and do not comply with the medication, stopping it prematurely on their own, causing relapse and prolongation of the disease. Some patients are afraid of taking psychotropic drugs and are even pessimistic because of the unpleasantness of psychotropic drug treatment. 4. The psychiatrist’s approach to diagnosis and treatment attaches special importance to the comprehensive analysis of the three causes and the simultaneous treatment of the three causes. Not only do they pay attention to the biological causes, but also to the scientific and rational treatment of psychotropic drugs. We also pay more attention to the psychological treatment of social and psychological factors. Because psychotropic drugs cannot change the social stimuli encountered by people; psychotropic drugs cannot improve people’s ability to adapt to the social environment; psychotropic drugs cannot change the thoughts of people with psychological disorders; psychotropic drugs cannot change people’s emotional reactions caused by stimuli; psychotropic drugs cannot change people’s behavioral habits; psychotropic drugs cannot change people’s character defects; psychotropic drugs cannot perfect people’s character, etc. This holistic treatment idea of psychiatrists makes the treatment process more humane. Only when the patient’s psychological ability is improved and he/she grows psychologically, the psychological disorder can achieve the effect of eradication.
