How long to leave the hospital after deviated septum surgery

After surgery for deviated septum, the patient can be discharged from the hospital in about 3 days, and the duration of hospitalization for observation and treatment varies slightly depending on the patient’s condition and postoperative response.
Surgical treatment for deviated septum is often performed with submucosal correction of the nasal septum, after which the nasal cavity is usually filled, and depending on the filler material, the postoperative disposition is different. However, regardless of whether the filling material is absorbable or not, nasal cleaning is started 48 hours after surgery, along with anti-infective and anti-inflammatory treatments.
There is a risk of bleeding, infection and localized tissue necrosis after surgery for this condition. The surgeon will perform regular nasal examinations and necessary cleaning, and if there are no postoperative adverse reactions the nasal sutures will be removed prior to discharge from the hospital.
Specifics of deviated septum surgery should be discussed with your local ENT surgeon.
