Can hydronephrosis cause a large stomach?

Hydrocele usually does not present with a large stomach, and very few individual patients with huge hydrocele may present with a large stomach. If a pediatric patient has a huge hydronephrosis, he may also show a full upper abdomen because of his thin physique, but generally mild, moderate or severe hydronephrosis without developing to severe hydronephrosis will not show an enlarged tummy. It is recommended to go to the hospital for ultrasound and CT examination to clarify the degree of fluid and the size of the fluid to understand whether the enlarged stomach is related to hydronephrosis. Generally, if the amount of hydronephrosis exceeds the amount of 24h urine, it is called giant hydronephrosis. More patients with hydronephrosis can accumulate up to 500ml of urine in the kidneys, which can lead to back pain or lumbar distress, waist distension and other symptoms, but adults rarely see giant hydronephrosis leading to abdominal distension. If there are patients with fluid accumulation beyond the midline of the abdomen can show an enlarged stomach, which is extremely rare, and a relevant examination at the hospital can clarify whether there is a relationship between a large stomach and hydronephrosis.
