Elevated CA125 cannot be used as an indicator to determine the severity of the disease, but one should be alerted to the occurrence of malignant tumors such as ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, pancreatic cancer, lung cancer, etc., and consult a doctor in time to find out the cause of the disease and target treatment. CA125 is also known as glycan antigen 125, and its normal range is 0~35U/ml. CA125 elevated to 54U/ml is a mild elevation. Patients with chronic inflammatory diseases such as chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, chronic cervicitis, chronic cholecystitis and other benign diseases can lead to mild elevation of CA125, but need to be vigilant about the occurrence of pre-malignant tumors such as endometrial, cervical and ovarian cancer. Benign diseases such as chronic cholecystitis can be seen in the presence of thickening of the gallbladder wall, enlargement of the gallbladder, and the presence of multiple gallbladder stones under the observation of abdominal ultrasound. Patients can be treated with medication or dietary adjustments such as low-fat diet. If chronic cholecystitis is symptomatic or there are large gallbladder polyps or multiple gallbladder stones, the gallbladder should be removed surgically. Malignant diseases: for example, cervical cancer can be diagnosed through colposcopy which reveals abnormal cervical morphology and pathologic biopsy. Cervical cancer should be surgically removed immediately and assisted with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, endocrine therapy and other drugs according to the situation. If CA125 is elevated to 54U/ml, patients should go to regular hospitals immediately to find out the cause of the disease and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
