What causes fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a non-articular rheumatic disease that belongs to the rheumatic immune system and may be related to central nervous sensitization, immune disorders, genetics, and infections.
The pathogenesis of fibromyalgia is not completely clear. Its age of onset is mostly in women around 30~45 years old. The main manifestations are decreased sleep quality, difficulty in falling asleep, generalized widespread bone and muscle pain, joint swelling and sensory numbness. There may be symmetrical fixed pressure points.
There is no better treatment for this disease, mainly focusing on symptomatic treatment such as improving sleep and relieving pain. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) focuses on regulating the spleen and stomach, benefiting qi and nourishing blood (replenishing the body’s qi and blood), and clearing away heat and dampness.
