Depending on the severity of caries, caries filling, root canal treatment (i.e., nerve extraction), or tooth extraction can be performed to relieve the pain of tooth decay.
1. Caries has not damaged the nerve of the tooth, that is, only in eating hot, cold, sour, sweet and other stimulating food is the emergence of tooth sensitivity and pain; caries filling can be carried out to fill the missing part of the tooth can be filled to repair to stop the pain.
2. If caries causes serious infection and inflammation of the nerve, symptoms such as hot and cold pain, spontaneous pain or biting pain will occur; root canal treatment is required to clean up the necrotic and inflamed nerve in order to effectively stop pain.
3. If most of the teeth are missing due to caries and cannot be preserved by root canal treatment; or if the wisdom tooth without physiological function is decayed and painful, the affected tooth can only be extracted to effectively stop the pain.
If the decayed tooth cannot be extracted, anti-inflammatory painkillers (such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, etc.) can be taken under the direction of a doctor to relieve the symptoms.
