What’s going on with the ground-glass density nodules?

Ground-glass density nodules are formed by abnormal proliferation of local lung tissues caused by lung tumor, inflammation, infection and other factors; chest CT shows a thin shadow with mildly increased density in the form of a rounded, cloudy shape, and the bronchial vascular bundles within the nodule can still be shown.

1. Most of the persisting ground-glass density nodules are lung cancer.

2. Among the ground-glass nodules caused by lung inflammation and infection, some of them can be absorbed by themselves after anti-infection treatment or observation for a period of time, but some of them still persist.

3. According to whether they contain solid components or not, they are divided into pure MGD nodules and mixed MGD nodules, and the probability of malignancy of mixed MGD nodules is greater than that of pure MGD nodules.

4. MGD nodules should be examined by chest CT regularly to observe the changes of nodule size and density, and need to be surgically removed if invasive carcinoma cannot be excluded.

It is recommended to go to the respiratory department or thoracic surgery department for further consultation and diagnosis to avoid delaying the condition.
