Late night pain in the teeth, unable to sleep

Acute pulpitis is an irreversible disease that occurs when the pulp is infected due to traumatic fracture, medical injury and untreated caries. Patients will not only have spontaneous pain, but also have pain that increases at night, mainly because the pressure on the pulp increases when the head is in a lower position, and the pressure on the nerve is enhanced, which leads to a huge pain in the tooth late at night. If the pain is unbearable and you cannot go to the hospital, you can first relieve it by taking oral painkillers, pressing the Hegu point bilaterally or the Pingan point unilaterally, removing food debris from the tooth cavity, and placing cotton balls soaked with painkilling medication, such as toothache water, into the tooth cavity. Generally, when this situation occurs, it is best to go to the hospital immediately for relevant examination, and after a clear diagnosis should be treated with open pulp drainage after anesthesia. Under the guidance of the doctor, painkillers and antibiotic drugs such as penicillin and metronidazole should be taken for treatment, or root canal treatment, apical induction molding or micro root canal treatment should be performed according to the patient’s specific condition. If necessary, tooth extraction can be performed. Patients should have regular oral checkups and treat dental and periodontal diseases as soon as possible after they are detected. It is important to use proper brushing, flossing, rinsing after meals, and controlling the intake of sweets.
