Difference between gastric polyp and gastric atypical hyperplasia

Gastric polyps are precancerous diseases of gastric cancer and atypical hyperplasia of the stomach is a precancerous lesion of gastric cancer. It means that polyp is a disease and atypical hyperplasia is a lesion. Gastric polyps may have atypical hyperplasia, which is also known as heterogeneous hyperplasia. In the case of severe atypical hyperplasia, the patient needs to undergo preventive surgery at an early stage, otherwise it can develop into gastric cancer. Gastric polyps can also be inflammatory polyps or hyperplastic polyps, which are almost never cancerous. If it is an adenomatous polyp, it has a higher risk of becoming cancerous and may develop atypical hyperplasia at any time and turn into gastric cancer.
